The silver contained in this commemorative was excavated from the wreck of the Nuestra Senora De Atocha, a Spanish Galleon which sunk in a hurricane off the Florida Keys on Sept. 6, 1622. The wreck was salvaged July 20, 1985. On the obverse is a picture facing the back of the ship in the hurricane. On the reverse is a picture of the divers.
