Trader Joe's Whiskybase Ratings and reviews for whisky

Our first installment is a review of the Single Malt Irish Whiskey 8-Year ($20). Off the nose, Chasse smelled some candied orange, caramel and a bit of Earl Grey tea. After the first sip, we were surprised—pleasantly! This whiskey is really easy to drink, smooth, tasty and "actually kind of dangerous.". Notes of honey and baking spices.

Trader Joe's Single Malt Irish Whiskey Review The Whiskey Jug

This is the third Irish Whiskey I've reviewed from Trader Joe's. The first was a 4-year-old Irish single malt that was utterly delicious and even though it said ex-Bourbon I swear there were some sherry casks involved. The second was an 8-year-old Irish single malt that was good, but not overly exciting; this Trader Joe's 15 Years Old Irish Single Malt falls somewhere in between.

The worst (by far) was Kentucky Bourbon Straight Whiskey. Mrs. Whiskeyfellow likes to shop at Trader Joe's. Sku's Recent Eats Trader Joe's Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Overall: The Trader Joe's Irish Whiskey is a well balanced and delicious malty concoction that reminds me more of Macallan 10 than it does of Bushmills 10 and is on par with many good single malt Scotches. Yes I said that and I stand by it. There are notes in there that if I were tasting this blind would throw me for a loop and swear I was drinking a Scottish Single Malt finished in sherry.
