Heat oil in deep fryer to 350 F. In a large skillet, combine apples and butter and cook over medium low for about 5 minutes, or until apples are slightly tender. Stir frequently. Remove from heat in stir in flour, sugar, cinnamon and allspice until ingredients are well incorporated. Set aside to allow to cool.

Let dough rise till doubled, 40 - 60 minutes. Punch down dough and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out to 1/2" thickness and cut with 1 1/2" biscuit cutter. Let biscuits rise for 15 - 20 minutes while frying oil/fat heats. Heat frying oil/fat to just over 350 degrees F. If fat is too hot, the biscuits will be soggy in the center.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and peel one medium size apple. Slice several thin slices to reserve for top of biscuits for garnish. Grate the remainder of the apple and set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour with 1 teaspoon on the cinnamon, reserving the rest for the glaze, salt, sugar and nutmeg. Mix well.

Instructions. Preheat oven to 450F degrees (yes, that is the correct temperature). Spray a 9×9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir constantly until the butter and sugars have melted.

Using a metal slotted spoon, carefully lower biscuits, 2 or 3 at a time, into deep, hot fat. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes or until double in volume and golden brown, turning once and spooning fat over squares as they fry. Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain on a wire rack set over paper towels. After a quick drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet, Seamus's helping hand dusted the hot biscuits with a few shakes of cinnamon sugar. All that was left to do was to slather warm fried biscuits with Mama's apple butter. And that, friends, was a killer combo! Seamus had a blast preparing the biscuits, and he loved the apple butter.

Melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and the bubbles start to subside, add the biscuits in a single layer. Step 4: Fry the biscuits for about two minutes on the first side. Then turn them over. The 2nd side will turn golden brown quicker, so watch them closely. They cook in no time.

Then melt some butter on a griddle, in a frying pan, or in a cast iron skillet, and place the biscuits in the hot butter to fry. Flip 'em once they show a golden brown hue, fry them on the other.

Add shortening or oil to a heavy bottomed pan or a fryer and heat to med-high (approximately 375°F). Once heated, add biscuits to the pan or fryer. Give them enough room to puff up while frying. Add yeast to warm water as directed on package. Add other ingredients, till mixed. Let dough rise. Work into biscuits. Heat oil to slightly hotter than 350 degrees.
