"Final Massacre" and "Decapitated Saints" were re-recorded and put on Vader's best albums, but others like "Reign Carrion" remain here and is the defining point of this album (XXV has it, too, but that's a special case). On its own Revelations is a decent album that captures the right stuff but lacks any inimitable identity - the kind that explains why the best Vader albums are as good as they are. "Epitaph" indicates the kind of Vader I love most - catchy riffs, groovy rhythms, and the need to not have to be breakneck-fast with obligatory blast beats.

This is probably the best produced Vader album that I can say. And the music is just monumental. I'll use that interchangeably with sublime. I don't think there's a better Vader release than this one for a while. It just smokes. The riffs are probably the highlight of this album. I think most of the riffs are entirely unique.

Vader. Started off as a heavy/speed metal band. They started achieving popularity in the Polish metal scene after the first Metalmania edition show in 1986. After going through a number of line-up and music direction changes, in 1987 they eventually embraced a death metal sound with reminiscences of thrash. The 1989 demo Necrolust was recorded.
