Brard trained as an executive secretary at Schoevers. A short time later she was offered a job as a secretary at the public broadcaster. Here she was discovered in 1977 by Hans van Hemert and asked to join the newly formed girl group Luv', consisting of three female singers, with which she had several national hits.
