This rock, shaped in the form of a bench, is an iconic landmark within the harbour area, with a history that dates back to 1810. At the time it was cut, the rock was hand.

Chair is piece of Australia's colonial history. Lady Elizabeth Macquarie was the wife of Major General Lachlan Macquarie, Governor of New South Wales. The chair was built by convicts in sandstone in 1810, so Lady Macquarie could watch the ships arriving from England. Her chair is located on a peninsula, overlooking Sydney Harbor.
